Let Love Wash Over Us

How do we get past the wounds of yesterday?
Whether we inflict ourselves
or inflicted by others.

We let love wash over us
By the teeming hands of God’s grace
We let love wash over us
By the covering of His merciful kindness
We let love wash over us
Like wet, sticky sand, unable to brush off
We let love wash over us.

We cover the sins of ourselves
and the sins of our accusers
and the sins of our abusers
and the sins of our trespassers
until they are no more.

When we trip and fall
or see a brother same
pick him up
wipe him clean
pour the salve of love
from all of heaven’s gain.

We keep pressing in until we are pressed no more
Until we see all but none
Until we see only One
Until all the pain is gone
Until the sting of satan’s strife
is all washed up on shore

We see only love through the keyhole of redemption’s door.

Love, love, love until you can’t contain
singing the song of the redeemed
and Ancient of Days.

Unending grace
Unending mercy
Unending kindness
Unending Love

Oh Let it wash over us, wash over us, wash over us
